AT trail (Springer to Woodys) backpacking: Trek 2

Location – AP Trail
Dates – 6/19 – 6/20
Departure – Friday, June 19th at 1:00 PM from Zion Parking lot
Return – Saturday, June 20th , 3-4 PM at 183 Office Suites Building
Dress – Class B uniform
Cost - $15 per scout ($ 5 for misc expense, $10 for food)
Scouts should bring – Backpack, tent, ground cover, sleeping bag, class B uniform, personal items (face cloth, towel, soap, toothbrush, comb, etc), change of under clothes and socks, rain gear, scout book, compass, flash light and extra)

Grub plan:

  • Friday dinner: Stop on the way or bring your own.
  • Pack own Saturday breakfast, lunch, Saturday dinner by lead cook.

Trek Plan (Tentative):

  • Friday:  Shuttle from Woody to Spring then hike 8 miles to Hawk Mountain
  • Saturday:  Hike 12.5 miles to Woody

Scouts should not bring – cell phones and any other electronic gear. – MP3 players, IPODs, game boys
Directions to Woodys Gap: Take GA 400 North for about 37 miles, then turn left at S Chestatee/GA-249/GA-60/US-19 for 5.1 miles. Then turn right at GA-60/Morrison Moore Pkwy E/Pine Tree Rd/US-19 (Continue to follow GA-60) for 8 miles. Turn left to stay on GA-60 for about 5 miles until Woody Gap

Backpacking: Trek 2...day Hike

Two Cannons and Earthworks

LocationKennesaw Mountain

Date – 5/30

Departure – Saturday, May 30th , 9:30 AM at the park visitor center

Return – Saturday, May 30th , 5:30 PM at the park visitor center

Dress – Class B uniform

Cost - $5 per scout ($5 for food)

Scouts should bring – Backpack, tent, ground cover, sleeping bag, class B uniform, personal items (face cloth, towel, soap, toothbrush, comb, etc), change of under clothes and socks, rain gear, scout book, compass, flash light and extra)

Grub plan:

  • Pack own Saturday breakfast and a lunch, Lunch by lead cook (Ellis).

Trek Plan:

    • Saturday:  Loop hike

      Directions:

      From I-75 South:To exit 269 (Barrett Parkway). At the stoplight turn right onto Barrett Parkway. Follow Barrett Parkway for approximately 3 miles, turn left at the light, onto Old Hwy 41. Turn right at your next light, Stilesboro Rd. The visitor center will be immediately on your left. Brown and white signs located along the roads will guide you as well. Directions from the visitor center to Cheatham Hill are provided in the visitor center at the information desk.

      Cross Over Campout at Hembree Park

      Drop off: Saturday, April 25th at 10 AM at Hembree Park
      Pick up:  Sunday, April 26th , 11:00 at Hembree Park
      Dress: Class A uniform
      Cost: $10 per scout ($10 for food)
      Scouts should bring: Tent, ground cover, sleeping bag, class B uniform, personal items (face cloth, towel, soap, toothbrush, comb, hair spray, etc), change of under clothes and socks, poncho, scout book, COMPASS, flash light and extra batteries.

      Troop 206 YMCA Lock-In

      "Scouting is a game with a purpose"...bp. 5th graders and above with Adult (parent) volunteers are invite to learn about Troop 206 at the Annual YMCA lock-in.  "Invite a friend!"  The overnight will be Friday night February 13 at the Ed Isakson Family YMCA in Alpharetta.       "It's better to train a boy than to fix a man"...

      It is important that parents be back to pick up their scouts at 6:45 AM as the YMCA will need to open for regular members and the adult leaders will be exhuasted and in need of sleep.

      Time: 8:30 PM - 6:30 AM (pick up at 7:00 AM promptly, please)

      • Rock Wall Climbing (9:30 – 11:30)
      • Basketball Court (all night)

      Cost: $5 per Scout

      Parents will need to sign a release for their children when dropping them off at the YMCA. Scouts planning on swimming should bring swimming trunks

      Dates – 1/30 – 2/1
      Departure – Friday, January 30th at 6:00 PM from Zion Parking lot
      Return – Sunday, February 1st , 12:00 Noon at 183 Office Suites Building
      Dress – Class A uniform
      Cost - $15 per scout ($ 5 for misc expense, $10 for food)
      Scouts should bring – Backpacks, tent, ground cover, sleeping bag, class B uniform, personal items (face cloth, towel, soap, toothbrush, comb, hair spray, etc), change of under clothes and socks, poncho, scout book, COMPASS, flash light and extra

      • Troop patrol: Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday breakfast - Cook team lead by JeremiahPhilmont crew
      • Pack own Saturday breakfast, lunch, and Sunday breakfast. Saturday dinner with Troop.

      Directions to FDR: Located just off I-185 near Callaway Gardens, west of Warm Springs on Ga. Route 190, or south of Pine Mountain off U.S. Hwy. 27.
